I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which detective walk passes the square?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Gelsenkirchen follows a fictional case from Ahstraße past Heinrich-König-Platz to Hans-Sachs-Haus. These real locations give your group surroundings to encounter while the investigation supplies clues and decisions to discuss. Take a moment on the square to look around before returning to the current prompt on your phone. Your companions can compare possible meanings of a clue before choosing an answer together, with every player able to contribute an observation or question. Share the information so the reasoning stays collaborative and leaves attention for the city. The phone connects the case, but the route and your conversations remain part of the experience as you continue the walk together on foot.

What discovery route can you select instead?
Secrets of Gelsenkirchen includes Propsteikirche St. Augustinus, Wissenschaftspark, Altstadtkirche and Musiktheater im Revier in that walking order. The self-guided exploration game gives your group another activity past churches and city centre landmarks. Choose it if this discovery format interests your companions more than following a fictional investigation. Agree on which adventure everyone wants before selecting a game, then focus on one shared activity together. Each player can compare observations and suggest possible answers during the walk. Real locations provide changing surroundings while the game supplies prompts and decisions to consider. Keep separately arranged interior visits outside the activity so each part of your day receives its own time and attention as you explore with your companions.
What should a team plan before starting?
Both listed games cost €19.95 per team, take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. They use the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starting times and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable occasion. Leave enough room in your plans for the route and its tasks without rushing straight into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so all your companions follow the current challenge. Comparing different interpretations can make the next answer a shared discussion, keeping every player involved even when someone else carries the device and enters the response the team has agreed on together while continuing the adventure.
