I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What does the exploration walk include?

Secrets of Gelsenkirchen is a self-guided walking tour past churches, the Hans-Sachs-Haus and city centre landmarks. Along the route you see Propsteikirche St. Augustinus and Altstadtkirche. The game uses the free Loquiz app on your own phone. Pick this option when colleagues want to explore together with an activity guiding their attention. Share the prompts and hear different suggestions before agreeing on an answer. A team of at most four gives quieter ideas room alongside the quick answers. Taking turns with the device can keep the whole group involved rather than leaving one colleague responsible for leading every part of the walk.

Where can your team investigate a mystery?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Gelsenkirchen follows a walking case from Ahstraße past Heinrich-König-Platz to the Hans-Sachs-Haus. You investigate through the free Loquiz app, with one phone for at most four players. Choose the detective story if your colleagues enjoy discussing possibilities as they explore. Read each prompt together and let teammates offer ideas before choosing the next answer. The small-team format helps everyone take part without the whole group having to agree on every move. A continuing case gives your walk a common purpose while colleagues can change who leads the discussion. The activity becomes a shared effort rather than one person’s game.

What should the organiser plan beforehand?

Both Gelsenkirchen games cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours. You can start whenever you want, every day, and bookings are valid for 12 months. Arrange teams of at most four with a phone for each team and prepare the free Loquiz app. All teams can begin at the same time and compare their scores after playing.
