I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the mission begin from the square?
The Hamburg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) starts on the square and takes you past St.-Petri-Kirche, Trostbrücke and Adolphsplatz. These named places give the walk different settings as you work through the pursuit. The starting square is a chance to gather before turning your attention to the game.
Agree how you want to share the phone and the decisions. One person can begin reading while others explain possible answers, then the roles can change during the walk. Let everyone hear the instruction before choosing what to do. That way the mission starts as a common activity instead of something one player follows for the rest of the group.

What makes this different from a puzzle exploration?
The Hamburg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows Magnus and the stolen formulas as a continuing mission through the streets. It allows up to five people on one phone per team. Choose it when a pursuit gives your companions the kind of shared purpose they enjoy during a city outing.
Secrets of Hamburg offers a separate exploration game from Rathausmarkt to Binnenalster with puzzles to solve. It allows up to four players per team. Select the street mission for the route beginning on the square described here, or the exploration game for a different activity style. Discuss those choices with your companions before deciding which walk to share.
How do time, cost and starting arrangements compare?
Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours, use the free Loquiz app and cost €19.95 per team. Both can be started whenever you like each day and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare their team limits and activity styles, then find a suitable date with the people you want to bring.
Have the shared phone ready before beginning. If your plan includes extra time at individual places, account for that alongside the game duration. A clear outline helps everyone arrive with the same expectations, ready to enjoy the activity while noticing the square and the other places that give your route its city setting.
Does the outdoor escape game start on the square?

Which option permits five players?

Do both activities use an app?
