I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where can you see the state theatre?

The Hessisches Staatstheater is at Christian-Zais-Straße 3 in Wiesbaden and is passed by two city games. Seeing the theatre from outside adds a cultural landmark to your walking plans. Pause to notice the building and its surroundings before returning to the game. This approach works well if you want to explore the city with friends or colleagues and keep an activity running between sights. The theatre becomes a point on your outing, with more places to discover as you continue.

How does the detective game include the theatre?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Wiesbaden passes the theatre during a case from Bonifatiusplatz towards the Kurhaus. You see Marktkirche, then the state theatre and Kochbrunnen along the route. The murder investigation gives your group a shared problem to discuss while walking. Choose this story if following a case sounds more appealing than an open discovery theme. You remain self-guided throughout the outing, with your phone carrying the activity as the city supplies the setting around you.

Which alternative stories explore Wiesbaden?

The Wiesbaden Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the theatre and sends you after Magnus and stolen formulas. Its walk runs from Marktplatz towards Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz; you see Marktkirche before the square, then Bäckerbrunnen and Langgasse. Secrets of Wiesbaden is the discovery alternative, with puzzles, photo tasks and stories about Marktplatz, the Kurhaus and hot springs. That route takes you past St. Boniface Church, then Marktkirche, the Kaiser Friedrich monument and Römertor. Choose the theme that your group is most curious to try.

What are the practical details for playing?

The Wiesbaden games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours. All use the free Loquiz app on your phone. Secrets and Sherlock Holmes are for at most 4 players per team on one phone; The Syndicate is for at most 5. Consider your group size before choosing the story. Once you have selected it, the timing stays flexible: you may start whenever you want, every day. Each game remains valid for 12 months for planning your city walk.
