I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why pause at this old-town lane?
Mårten Trotzigs Gränd is a narrow lane in Stockholm's old town that you can see during both featured walking games. Its enclosed setting provides a contrast with the squares and larger buildings elsewhere on your walk. Look along the lane and notice how the surrounding buildings shape the space before returning to the phone. Your companions can compare their observations, giving the sightseeing a place within the shared activity. The game already provides the story, so the lane can simply be enjoyed as a real place you reach together. Continue when your group is ready.

Which stories bring you into the old town?
Secrets of Stockholm passes the lane on a self-guided walk from Stortorget towards the Royal Palace and the old town's narrow lanes. Its route also includes Almstriden. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Stockholm passes the lane too, following a detective murder case on foot. Along its route you see the lane, the Stock Exchange Building and S:ta Gertrud. Choose the exploration walk if you want the city places to lead your outing, or the detective case if your companions prefer a continuing investigation to discuss. Both give the walk a shared activity while leaving the pace to your own group.
How do you prepare one phone for your team?
Both Stockholm games use the free Loquiz app, cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours. At most 4 players share one phone per team. Choose which device to use before beginning and let all companions contribute ideas even if one person does the reading. A couple can discuss decisions closely, while friends or colleagues can compare different interpretations. You can start whenever you want, every day, with validity for 12 months. Plan separate visits outside the playing time so the game can fit into your Stockholm outing without setting the schedule for the whole day.
