I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the city hall appear in Secrets?

Secrets of Oudewater includes Hermann de Man, Handen aan het bed monument, City Hall Oudewater and Visbrug in that walking order. Riddles and photo tasks give your discovery walk shared activities between real locations. Notice the city hall during the route and keep any separate interior visit outside the walking game. Your companions can compare observations before considering what the current prompt asks, giving each person a chance to participate. The phone connects the tasks, but looking around remains part of the outing. Let different ideas be heard before choosing an answer so the discovery stays collaborative as you continue exploring the town and following the game together on foot.

What changes if you choose the detective game?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Oudewater includes Touwmuseum De Baanschuur, Marktstraat, Stadhuis Oudewater and Sint-Franciscuskerk in that walking sequence. The fictional case gives your group an investigation to discuss instead of the discovery tasks in Secrets. Choose it if your companions enjoy weighing possible explanations as you walk, or select Secrets for riddles and photo tasks. Agree on the format that interests everyone before making your choice, then follow one adventure as a team. Each player can suggest an interpretation or question a first answer, with the real places giving the route variety while the shared activity provides decisions to consider together between the locations you encounter.

How do you arrange one shared phone game?

Both adventures cost €19.95 per team, take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and use the free Loquiz app. They allow up to four players sharing one phone. You can start daily at a flexible time, and your purchase stays valid for 12 months. Choose a suitable moment in your plans for the walk and the tasks rather than rushing into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so your companions know what the group is solving. Different observations can make the next answer a discussion, keeping everyone involved even when another player carries the device and enters the response the team has chosen together.
