I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the museum fit into this activity?
The museum is a route stop in a self-guided walking game, giving your team a place to notice while working on its case. The activity connects sightseeing with a shared problem, so the outing has a thread even when your companions have different interests. Give the stop a moment before moving on with the investigation.
If you also want a separate museum visit, plan that alongside the walk. The game information does not specify admission or an exhibition visit. Keeping those plans distinct helps your group agree what the day includes and leaves appropriate time for whatever else you want to do.

What does the detective walk take you past?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Tilburg takes you past Natuurmuseum Brabant, then the Textile Museum and Spoorpark Tilburg. These places give the case a sequence of settings as you explore on foot. The route is part of the appeal: there is a reason to keep walking, with different places to notice as the investigation develops.
The game uses the free Loquiz app and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Up to four players share one phone. Talk through possible answers together rather than letting the screen holder handle everything. A detective activity gives the whole group something to contribute to while it explores the city.
Would a puzzle walk suit your team better?
Secrets of Tilburg provides another option for a city outing, combining puzzles, photo tasks and stories. Its walk passes Heilig Hartbeeld, Standbeeld Willem II, Duvelhok and the BeKa Chimney. Choose it if your group prefers changing task types to following a murder investigation; select the detective game for the route that includes the museum.
Both games cost €19.95 per team of up to four players. Each uses the free Loquiz app, takes 1.5 to 2 hours and offers a flexible daily start. Your purchase is valid for twelve months. You can decide on the format with your companions and choose a day that works for everyone.
