I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the church fit into the exploration route?
Secrets of Utrecht takes you past the Nicolaïkerk, then St. Catharinakathedraal, Paushuize and the Pandhof cloister garden. These stops give the game different settings as your group walks through the historic centre. The church becomes part of a broader outing rather than the only destination you have in mind.
Take a considerate moment to notice the building before returning to the phone. A walking game can help you connect several places while still giving each its own attention. No church admission or interior visit is specified for the activity. If you want to make additional visits, plan them separately alongside the game rather than assuming they are included.

What does the puzzle activity ask of your team?
Secrets of Utrecht combines puzzles, riddles and photo tasks on a self-guided walk. The different activities let companions contribute in different ways, from explaining an answer to helping with a photograph. Your group has a common purpose without needing everyone to prefer the same kind of challenge.
Up to four players share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Keep the discussion open to everyone, including those who are not reading from the screen. One person can begin with the phone while another suggests an approach, then you can change roles. This helps the outing remain a shared walk as well as a shared game.
How does the detective option differ?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Utrecht offers a separate investigation from Stadhuisplein along the Oudegracht to the Dom Tower. Choose it if your group prefers a continuing detective case. Select the exploration walk for its mix of tasks and the route that includes the Nicolaïkerk and the other places described here.
Both activities use the free Loquiz app, take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players on one phone. Both offer flexible daily starts and twelve months of validity after purchase. Decide which kind of activity appeals to your companions, then choose a suitable day to explore together.
Which walk includes the Nicolaïkerk?
It is a listed stop on Secrets of Utrecht.
Is a church visit included?
No interior visit or admission is specified.
How many people can play together?
Up to four players share one phone per team.
Do we need a fixed departure time?
No. Both games can be started whenever you like each day.
