I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which games suit explorers or detective fans?

Secrets of Aalborg starts at Budolfi Kirke and takes you across Gammeltorv with puzzles and photo tasks. Your team follows this self-guided exploration game on one phone. Friends can discuss what they notice and decide how to approach the tasks together, giving the walk a shared focus.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Aalborg follows a case from Toldbod Plads past Aalborghus Castle. It offers a detective story for your team to discuss at its own pace. Both options use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team. Choose the style your friends prefer, then arrange the phones and teams around that player limit.

What does the outdoor escape option involve?

The Aalborg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) sends you after Magnus and the stolen formulas past Budolfi Kirke, Jens Bangs Stenhus and Aalborg Rådhus. Up to five players can share a team phone, using the free Loquiz app to follow the story. It is an outdoor activity through the streets that you guide yourselves.

A bachelor or bachelorette group can use the five-player limit to decide how friends will play together. Give each team its own phone and invite everyone to contribute ideas. The chase gives your celebration a common starting activity, while you set your own pace during the walk. Keep the rivalry relaxed so all the small teams can enjoy the shared challenge.

What are the price and timing details?

An Aalborg game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Budget for the number of teams you need within each game's player limit: four for exploration or detective play, five for the outdoor escape story. Every team uses one phone, so a larger guest list needs several team bookings and devices.

You can start on any day whenever you want, and the booking remains valid for 12 months. Choose a story before assigning friends so your teams match its limit. Then agree on a start and prepare the phones. Allow enough room for the walking activity in the day's celebration plans, with no guide setting a departure for you.
