I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why make the monastery part of your outing?

Aalborg Kloster is a monastery building in Aalborg and is passed by Secrets and The Syndicate. Looking at it in its street setting adds another kind of landmark to a walk that also includes churches and squares. Pause to notice the surroundings before returning to your chosen activity. A game connects this sightseeing moment with a purpose everyone in your group shares. You might prefer discovery puzzles and photo tasks or a pursuit after stolen formulas through the streets. Choose the theme together before setting off, so the monastery becomes one recognisable part of a wider walk with more places to explore as a group.

Which stories connect the monastery with city sights?

Secrets of Aalborg passes the monastery during a discovery game from Budolfi Kirke. You see Hjelmerstald before Aalborg Kloster, then Budolfi Kirke and Jens Bangs Stenhus along its route. The Aalborg Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the monastery, following Magnus and stolen formulas from Budolfi Church towards Vor Frue Kirke. Its route includes Budolfi Kirke before Jens Bangs Stenhus, then Aalborg Rådhus and C. W. Obels Plads. For a detective alternative, Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Aalborg begins at Toldbod Plads. You encounter the Statue of Aalborg before Gammeltorv, then the Historical Museum and Jens Bangs Stenhus during that case through the city.

How do you plan a game with your team?

Each Aalborg game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. You use one phone with the free Loquiz app. Secrets and Sherlock Holmes allow at most 4 players per team; The Syndicate allows at most 5. Check those limits and the theme with the people joining you before choosing what to play. You can begin whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. Agree on a convenient meeting time and allow the playing time in your plans. That leaves flexibility to arrange a shared walk with friends, your partner or colleagues alongside the rest of your visit.

Which outdoor story includes it?
