I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can the museum fit into your plans?
The Groeningemuseum is a museum at Dijver 12 in Bruges that you can see during both featured walking games. It gives your group a cultural stop alongside the towers, churches and waterside places elsewhere on the routes. Pause to look at the building together before returning to the phone. If you want a separate museum visit, organise that independently and allow additional time around the game. This keeps the walking activity clear as one shared plan, while other visits can have their own place in your day. Your group decides when to continue and how to balance sightseeing with following the story.

Which Bruges stories pass the museum?
Secrets of Bruges and Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Bruges both pass the Groeningemuseum. The exploration route brings you past the belfry, the city hall and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. The detective route includes the Simon Stevin stop, the basilica and Rozenhoedkaai. Choose exploration if you want the city places to lead the outing, or the detective case if your companions prefer a continuing investigation to discuss. Both give your group something shared to work on while seeing actual places around the city. Your own pace leaves time to look around as well as read or discuss the activity on the phone.
What should your team prepare before beginning?
Both Bruges games cost €19.95 per team, last 1.5 to 2 hours and use the free Loquiz app on one shared phone. At most 4 players can form a team, so choose the device before starting and let everyone contribute ideas even when one person handles the screen. Friends, couples or colleagues can discuss the activity together while choosing their own pace. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game is valid for 12 months. Leave time separately for other Bruges plans, keeping the self-guided game a flexible activity within the outing you arrange with your own companions.
