I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How can the museum fit into your game plans?

The Gruuthusemuseum is a museum at Dijver 17 in Bruges that you can see during both featured walking games. It provides a cultural point of interest alongside the church, tower and waterside stops elsewhere on the routes. Pause to look at the building together before returning to your phone. If you also want a separate museum visit, organise that independently and allow additional time around the walk. The game connects several real places through a shared activity, while other visits can have their own place in the day. Your group decides when to continue and how to balance sightseeing with following the story.

Which Bruges stories pass this museum?

Secrets of Bruges and Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Bruges both pass the Gruuthusemuseum. The exploration route brings you past the belfry, the city hall and the Basilica of the Holy Blood. The detective route includes the Simon Stevin stop, the basilica and Rozenhoedkaai. Choose exploration if you want the city places to lead your outing, or the detective case if your companions prefer a continuing investigation to discuss. Both give your group something shared to work on while discovering actual sights on foot, leaving the pace to your own companions as you move between looking around and following the activity on the phone.

What should a team prepare before starting?

Both Bruges games cost €19.95 per team, last 1.5 to 2 hours and use the free Loquiz app on one phone. At most 4 players can form one team, so choose your device before beginning and make room for everyone's ideas even when one person reads from the screen. Friends, couples or colleagues can discuss the activity together while determining their own pace. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Leave time separately for other Bruges plans, keeping the self-guided game a flexible part of the day you arrange with your own companions.
