I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which dark stories does Paris tell?
Paris has plenty of real history to send a shiver down your spine. Below the streets lie the Catacombs, where the bones of millions of Parisians were moved from overflowing cemeteries from the late 18th century. On the Île de la Cité, the Conciergerie was a prison during the Revolution: Marie Antoinette spent her last weeks there in 1793 before she was taken to the guillotine.
At the tip of the same island, near Square du Vert-Galant, the last Grand Master of the Templars, Jacques de Molay, was burned in 1314. Legend says he cursed the king and the pope from the flames, and both died within the year. High on Notre-Dame, the gargoyles and chimeras still look down on the city.

Which routes can you play in Paris this Halloween?
There are three Secrets of Paris routes of 1.5 to 2 hours each. On the Notre-Dame route you help Victor Hugo find a lost chapter of The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, passing Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Crypte archéologique de l’Île de la Cité and the Conciergerie. In the Latin Quarter you help Marie Curie, from the Panthéon, where she lies in the crypt, past the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève to the Église Saint-Étienne-du-Mont. A third route follows Leonardo da Vinci around the Louvre, from the Porte des Lions over the Pont Royal.
For a detective story, play Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Paris with the free Loquiz app. It begins at the Tour Saint-Jacques, a lone Gothic tower linked to the legend of the alchemist Nicolas Flamel, and leads past the Fontaine Stravinsky into the Marais.
How is Halloween celebrated in Paris?
Halloween is not an old French tradition, but in Paris you will see costume parties, pumpkins in shop windows and themed evenings in bars. The day that really matters here is Toussaint, All Saints' Day on 1 November, a public holiday when many families bring chrysanthemums to the graves of their loved ones.
That mix of autumn, candles and remembrance makes a walk through the old centre feel right at this time of year. Is halloween Paris on one of your routes too scary for children?
No, the games are about riddles, photo tasks and history, not jump scares. Children who can read join in easily.
How long does a game take?
Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and the riddles.
Do I need an app?
