I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What legends and dark history does Regensburg have?

The most famous legend in Regensburg is about the Stone Bridge. The master builder, the story says, made a pact with the devil to finish the bridge faster: the devil would receive the first three souls to cross it. When the bridge was ready, the builder sent a rooster, a hen and a dog across first. The cheated devil tried to destroy the bridge, and that, people say, is why it has its hump.

The history is darker still in places. Saint Emmeram was martyred in the 7th century and is buried in the abbey that carries his name. On Neupfarrplatz stood the Jewish quarter until 1519, when the Jews of Regensburg were expelled and their synagogue was torn down.

In the autumn mist, the narrow lanes between the old towers feel full of these stories.

You start at the Porta Praetoria, the gate the Romans built for their legion camp here in the 2nd century. From there you walk to Schloss St. Emmeram and the Historisches Museum Regensburg, and on to Neupfarrplatz. In the dark, with only the lamps on the old walls, every clue feels like a real investigation.

How does Bavaria celebrate Halloween, and who is the game for?

Halloween is a young tradition in Germany: children go trick-or-treating in costume and adults go to parties. In Bavaria the next day, 1 November, is All Saints' Day, a public holiday when many families visit the graves of their loved ones.

A detective game in the old town fits that mood: a little eerie, but not a horror show. It suits friends, couples, families with older children and colleagues. The price is €19.95 per team: one phone, at most 4 players. With a bigger group you form several teams and play at the same time. The code HALLOWEEN50 gives you 50% off all our games until 2 November.
