I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Where does the museum appear on the detective route?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Brielle includes Sint-Catharijnekerk, Historisch Museum Den Briel, Markt and Kaaipoort, in that order. The adventure starts at the Arsenaal and follows a trail out towards the ramparts. That gives your group a town walk with a case to work through and real locations to encounter along the way. Passing the museum during play is separate from visiting its interior, so arrange an interior visit independently if you want one. Enjoy the route while discussing the investigation, with the story giving your companions something to consider together rather than simply directing your attention from one building to another.

Why might you choose Secrets instead?

Secrets of Brielle is a self-guided walking game full of puzzles and photo tasks through the old town’s streets, squares and ramparts. It offers a discovery format for a group that enjoys a mixture of challenges while exploring. Choose it if the walk itself and varied tasks sound more appealing than following a detective investigation. You can make your choice by asking what the whole group wants from the outing: noticing places together, sharing a photo task or working through a case. Both games give your companions a reason to participate, with the phone carrying the activity and your team bringing the observations and ideas.

What are the price and practical arrangements?

Either Brielle adventure costs €19.95 per team and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Up to four players share one phone, using the free Loquiz app. Starting times are flexible daily, and the purchase remains valid for 12 months. Pick a suitable time for the group and leave room for the walk without trying to combine it with a separate interior visit at the same moment. During play, share what the phone is asking so everyone can contribute. A person who notices something outside may offer a different perspective from someone reading the prompt, and comparing those ideas can be part of the enjoyment.
