Markt Brielle: walk and solve

City games in Brielle (2) ↓

Markt Brielle is a square on a detective route that gives your town walk a case to investigate. Explore with your companions, sharing the clues on one phone while noticing places along the way. A discovery adventure offers another format, combining puzzles and photo tasks with a walk through the old town for groups that prefer different activities to a detective story.

I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Which investigation takes you through Markt?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Brielle includes Sint-Catharijnekerk, Historisch Museum Den Briel, Markt and Kaaipoort in that walking order. The adventure starts at Arsenaal and follows a trail towards the ramparts, giving your group a route with a fictional case to discuss. Notice the square as a real place during the walk and arrange any interior visits independently of the game. You can share possible explanations for each clue before choosing an answer, keeping the investigation open to everyone in the team. The phone supplies the prompts, while your companions contribute observations and ideas as the route brings different surroundings into your outing through the fortified town.

What can you play if you prefer discovery tasks?

Secrets of Brielle offers a self-guided walking game with puzzles and photo tasks through the streets, squares and ramparts of the old town. Choose it if your companions want varied things to do during the outing rather than a detective case to follow. Both formats turn a walk into a shared activity, but the kind of challenge you discuss will differ. Agree on what interests everyone before selecting a game, then focus on that one adventure together. Looking around remains part of the experience, with the phone connecting the tasks instead of drawing all attention away from the town. Each person can offer an observation or suggestion as you explore.

How do the price, team size and time work?

Both listed Brielle games cost €19.95 per team and take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. They allow up to four players sharing one phone and use the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starting times and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable moment for the outing. Leave enough space in your plans to enjoy both the route and the decisions rather than rushing straight into another activity. During play, read or show the current prompt to your companions so everyone knows what the team is solving. A fresh interpretation can make the next answer a conversation, with all players helping the group choose how to continue together.
