I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What does the Vismarkt add to your walk?
The Vismarkt is a square in Groningen that you can see during the featured exploration and outdoor escape games. It offers a broader view of the city than looking down a street or concentrating on one building. Let your companions take in the surroundings before returning to the story. Comparing what everyone notices makes the sightseeing a shared activity as well as the game. You choose your own pace throughout the walk, so there is room to look around without assigning a task to every place. Other visits can be planned independently around your playing time.

Which Groningen stories pass the square?
Secrets of Groningen passes the Vismarkt on an exploration walk from the Grote Markt, with puzzles along the way. You see the Martini Tower and Prinsentuin on its route. The Groningen Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the square, following Magnus and stolen formulas on foot through the city. Its route brings you past Groningen City Hall and the Martinitoren. Choose the exploration walk if your group wants puzzles to accompany sightseeing, or the pursuit if you prefer an outdoor escape story in the streets. Either provides a common activity to discuss while you explore together.
Which game fits the number of people coming?
Secrets of Groningen allows at most 4 players per team, while the outdoor escape game allows at most 5. Both cost €19.95 per team, last 1.5 to 2 hours and use the free Loquiz app on one phone. Decide which story suits your group size, then choose the device before beginning. Everyone can share ideas even if one person reads from the screen. You can start whenever you want, every day, with validity for 12 months. Add separate time for other Groningen activities so the game stays a flexible part of the day you arrange together.
Is the Vismarkt included in the exploration walk?
Yes. Secrets of Groningen passes the Vismarkt during its self-guided exploration activity.
What does the outdoor escape story follow?
The Groningen Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows Magnus and stolen formulas through the city.
Can five people play one game together?

What app do these games use?
