I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the exploration route reach this area?
Secrets of Harderwijk takes you past Linnaeustuin and the Vismarktpoort area, then this stop and Vitringasingel. The sequence gives your outing a set of places to notice while puzzles, photo tasks and stories provide the common activity. The area becomes part of a broader town walk rather than a separate attraction visit.
Allow a moment to look around before reading the next instruction. A companion may notice something you have not, giving the group a short conversation beyond the task on the screen. This balance helps keep the real town present as you continue the game, rather than turning the route into only a succession of names.

What kind of contribution can each player make?
Secrets of Harderwijk combines different tasks so your companions can participate in different ways. Someone may enjoy explaining a puzzle answer, while another helps with a photograph. You have a shared activity without needing every player to prefer the same part of the outing most.
The game is self-guided with the free Loquiz app on one phone for up to four players. Let everyone hear the instruction before agreeing on an answer, and change who reads if that helps keep the group involved. A single device does not have to mean a single decision-maker. The conversation can belong to the whole team throughout the walk.
What if your group prefers an investigation?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Harderwijk offers a separate detective walk from the town hall to Vischpoort and the old town wall. Choose it if a continuing case appeals more than varied exploration tasks. For the route including the Academiestraat stop, select the puzzle walk described here.
