I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Where does the garden fit into the exploration route?

Secrets of Harderwijk takes you past the garden, then the Vismarktpoort area, Academiestraat near the Linnaeus Tower and Vitringasingel. These named places give the route a sequence, with the garden forming one part of the walk. Take a moment to look at the setting before continuing with the activity.

You do not need to turn every stop into a long visit to make it part of your experience. A brief pause lets companions notice the place and share an observation. Then you can return to the phone together, keeping both the town and the game in view as the outing continues.

What do you share during the puzzle walk?

Secrets of Harderwijk combines puzzles, photo tasks and stories on a self-guided town walk. The different tasks allow different contributions: someone can explain an answer while another helps with a photograph. It suits a group that wants more to share than simply agreeing which street to take next.

Up to four people use one phone with the free Loquiz app. Make sure everyone hears the task before discussing a solution, and let the reading change hands if that helps the group. A common device works best when the discussion stays common too, giving each companion a way to take part throughout the activity.

How does a detective walk offer a different outing?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Harderwijk offers a separate investigation from the town hall to the Vischpoort and the old town wall. Choose it if your companions want a detective case to carry through the walk. Select the exploration game for its varied tasks and the route that includes the garden.

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players. Each uses the free Loquiz app on one phone, offers a flexible daily start and remains valid for twelve months after purchase. Pick the activity with your group and find a suitable date to explore together.

Which route includes the garden?

It is one of the listed stops of the Secrets walk.

Do we need an app for that game?

Can a pair share the activity?

How long can we wait to play?
