I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What activity brings you past the church?
Secrets of Wijk Bij Duurstede includes De Grote Kerk among its named route stops. The church is a real religious destination, while the game gives your group puzzles and photo tasks to work on together. Passing it does not establish admission or an included interior tour, so arrange any independent visit outside the activity. Notice the setting respectfully, then gather around the next instruction and hear what every player suggests. You do not need to invent a history lesson to appreciate being there. The shared activity gives your walk a common purpose between places instead of leaving one person to read and decide everything privately on the phone.

Which named places accompany the walking route?
Kasteel Duurstede, Mazijk and Huis Amstelwijk are named route stops after De Grote Kerk. Together they give Secrets of Wijk Bij Duurstede a concrete city setting. Follow the game for actual progress instead of using the names to assemble a separate programme of interior visits. Any independent sightseeing needs its own arrangements outside the activity. Between puzzles, compare what the group has understood and invite a different player to suggest an approach to a photo task. The walking gives those discussions time to develop while the tasks connect your choices, keeping the outing shared rather than simply a succession of places around which one person checks a screen.
How do you arrange the phone and playing time?
Secrets of Wijk Bij Duurstede uses the free Loquiz app and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. It costs €19.95 per team for at most 4 players sharing one phone. Friends, colleagues or a couple can follow the same activity when instructions are read aloud and answers discussed before they are entered. Rotate who offers the first suggestion, keeping the device as a tool for everyone's participation. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. Choose a suitable period for walking and solving together, with independent church or other sightseeing visits outside the game's own duration.
