I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

What connects the castle with the walking game?

Secrets of Wijk Bij Duurstede passes De Grote Kerk, then Kasteel Duurstede and Mazijk. The castle is a real landmark along a route that combines looking around with challenges on your phone. You have places to notice and questions to think about as a group.

Make the castle stop more than a glance between instructions. Look at the place, give your companions a moment to do the same and then return to the next task. An independent visit can be planned separately if you want one; the walking game gives your outing its own focus without needing to fill every pause with another activity.

How do you follow the puzzles on one phone?

You play Secrets of Wijk Bij Duurstede in the free Loquiz app on your own phone. A team has at most 4 players, following a self-guided walk without an accompanying guide. Riddles and photo tasks provide things to work through together between the real places on the route.

Share the instruction before asking for answers. One person may notice a different interpretation, another may suggest how to approach a task. Couples can think side by side, while friends or colleagues can compare their ideas. Keep those contributions in the conversation so that carrying the phone does not also mean doing all the solving.

What are the practical details for your outing?

The game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours, with one phone for at most 4 players. Choose your shared device before you begin, and allow time for a walk with puzzles rather than only passing the individual sights. Additional visits can have their own place in your day.

You can start whenever you want, every day, within a validity period of 12 months. That leaves the timing with your group. Select a moment that suits your visit to Wijk Bij Duurstede, open the app and follow the challenges together while giving the places along the route some attention too.
