I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

Which city quest can we play without an app?

Secrets of Bielefeld asks you to piece together clues and guide Anna Luise von Hoheneinfalt to where she belongs. The walk passes the Hauptbahnhof, Katholisch-Apostolische Kirche and Klosterplatz. It runs in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed, for at most four players per team.

Choose this exploration story when your friends want a quest to discuss while walking together. One person handles the screen, but everyone can offer observations and ideas about the next step. Follow the activity at your own pace and guide yourselves through the walk. Arrange several small teams if more guests are joining, with a phone for every group, keeping the challenge shared within the player limit throughout the outing.

Where can friends investigate a detective story?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Bielefeld follows a case from Jahnplatz past Nicolaikirche to Alter Markt. It uses the free Loquiz app on your own phone and allows at most four players per team. Friends can discuss the mystery while following the self-guided walk at their own pace.

Pick this option when your bachelor or bachelorette group enjoys working through a case together. Decide which friends will share each team phone and invite everyone to suggest ideas during the activity. Keep rivalry relaxed, giving the celebration a common detective focus at the beginning of the day. There is no guide leading the group or making its next decisions, so your team discusses how to proceed together as it follows the story through the city.

How do we plan time, bookings and the beginning?

A game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Each team contains at most four players using one phone. Calculate the number of teams your guests need before booking; a larger party requires several bookings and devices within that player limit.

You may start whenever you want on any day, with a booking valid for 12 months. Choose the exploration quest or detective case first, assign friends and check the phone setup. The quest runs in a browser, while the mystery uses an app. Agree a start together and allow enough room for the walk in your day's plans. These self-guided activities let the group organise its own beginning and follow the chosen story together.
