I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What can our exploration or detective team see?

Secrets of Darmstadt brings puzzles and photo tasks to a city walk with stories about Marktplatz, the palace and Luisenplatz. Your team shares a phone as you follow the activity and discuss what to do next. It suits friends who want a varied exploration game for the opening of the day.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Darmstadt starts at Friedensplatz beside the Hessisches Landesmuseum. Its route also includes Schlossmuseum Darmstadt. This choice centres on a detective murder case that your group follows at its own pace. Both options use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team, so arrange phones and teams around that limit.

Which game accommodates a five-person team?

The Darmstadt Syndicate (outdoor escape game) lets up to five players follow Magnus and the stolen formulas together. The route takes you past Marktplatz, Stadtkirche Darmstadt and Justus-Liebig-Haus. You follow the story on your own phone in the free Loquiz app, walking through the city without a guide.

For a bachelor or bachelorette party, use the team limit to work out how friends will play together. Every team needs one phone, and everyone can join the discussion around its decisions. Choose this outdoor escape activity when your group wants a shared chase through the streets. Keep the competition light and let the story provide a common focus as the celebration gets underway.

How much should we budget for the walk?

Each Darmstadt game costs €19.95 per team and lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Teams have one phone and contain at most four players for exploration or detective play, or five for the outdoor escape game. A larger celebration needs several teams, so calculate its cost from that team count.

You can begin on any day whenever you want, with a booking valid for 12 months. Choose the game first, then divide the guest list and prepare the phones for that option. This self-guided activity lets your party agree its own start. Leave enough room for the walk in the day's plans and tell everyone when the teams should be ready to play.

Where does the detective walk begin?

Is the activity suitable for a hen party?

Can we pick a start time ourselves?
