I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can you give the monument its own moment?
The monument is a real place to notice thoughtfully, independently of the game activity that brings your group through the city. Put the phone aside briefly and let your companions look at the setting without immediately discussing the next task. A quiet pause can belong in a shared walk just as naturally as conversation.
Be considerate of others who may also be stopping there. When your group is ready to continue, gather again and return to the activity. Keeping those moments distinct helps the outing accommodate different kinds of places. The monument deserves its own attention rather than being treated as an invented story setting or a task that the group needs to complete.

Which exploration game passes the monument?
Secrets of Darmstadt passes the monument and also lists Hessisches Landesarchiv, Datterich Fountain and Staatstheater Darmstadt among its route stops. These places give the walk different settings while puzzles, photo tasks and city stories provide the common activity. At the monument, allow the game to leave the centre of attention before continuing the route.
Up to four players share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Between stops, let everyone hear each task and offer an approach before choosing an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands during the walk, so the device holder does not have to carry every decision alone. This helps the activity stay shared by the whole team.
What should your group arrange for the overall walk?
The exploration game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team. You can start whenever you like each day, and the purchase remains valid for twelve months. Choose a suitable date with your companions and prepare the free Loquiz app on the phone your team will share.
Discuss how the activity will fit into the rest of the day. Additional time at individual places belongs alongside the game duration. A route with a monument stop benefits from room for attentive pauses as well as shared tasks. Agreeing that approach beforehand helps everyone understand the outing and gives the real places their own attention within the walk you have chosen to undertake together.
