I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the exploration route reach the palace?

Secrets of Darmstadt takes you past Hessisches Landesarchiv, Datterich Fountain and Staatstheater Darmstadt before the palace. These places give the walk a sequence while puzzles, photo tasks and stories provide something for your group to share. The palace is one stop in that wider city outing.

No palace museum admission or interior visit is specified for the game. If you want to visit separately, plan its time independently alongside the activity. At the stop itself, let the group notice the building before continuing with the next task. Clear expectations help companions with different interests enjoy the same plan, balancing the game with attention to the places along the route.

What gives the puzzle walk its variety?

Secrets of Darmstadt combines puzzles, photo tasks and stories in a self-guided city activity. The different tasks let companions contribute in different ways, from explaining an answer to helping make a photograph. You have a common purpose without needing every player to prefer exactly the same part most.

Up to four people share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Let everyone hear each task before the team chooses an answer, and change who reads if that helps keep all players involved. A single device need not mean a single decision-maker. The discussion can belong to the whole group as the walk continues between the real route settings.

Which separate game offers a detective case?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Darmstadt starts at Friedensplatz beside Hessisches Landesmuseum and includes Orangerie and Rosenhöhe along its route. Choose it if your companions prefer an investigation to varied exploration tasks. Select the puzzle walk for the route including the palace and the other places described here.

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players on one phone. Both use the free Loquiz app, offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Agree the activity style with your companions, then find a suitable date. Extra visiting time belongs alongside the game duration.

Yes, it is one of the listed stops.

Does the game include museum admission?

Can a pair share the activity?

When can we begin?

Both games offer flexible daily starts within twelve months of purchase.
