I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can you make room for remembrance on the route?
The memorial is a real place to approach respectfully, independently of the game activity that brings you through the city. Put the phone aside for a moment and let your companions look at the place without immediately discussing the next task. A quiet pause can belong in a shared walk just as naturally as conversation.
Be considerate of other people who may also be stopping there. When your group is ready to move on, gather again and return to the activity. Keeping those moments separate helps the outing accommodate different kinds of places. The memorial deserves its own attention rather than being treated as a fictional setting or a challenge to complete.

Which exploration walk includes this stop?
Secrets of Darmstadt takes you past Hessisches Landesarchiv and Datterich Fountain, then the memorial and Staatstheater Darmstadt. These places give the walk a sequence, while puzzles, photo tasks and stories form the separate shared activity. At the memorial, allow the game to leave the centre of attention before continuing the route.
Up to four players share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Between stops, invite each companion to contribute ideas and explain a possible answer. Changing who reads can help keep the activity common to everyone. The group can enjoy solving tasks together while still approaching each real place with the attention appropriate to it.
What should you arrange for the overall walk?
The game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team. You can start whenever you like, every day, and the purchase stays valid for twelve months. Choose a suitable date together and have the free Loquiz app ready on your shared phone before beginning.
Talk with your companions about how the activity will fit into the rest of the day. Additional time at individual places sits alongside the game duration. A route with a remembrance stop benefits from room for quiet attention as well as shared tasks. Agreeing that approach beforehand helps everyone understand the outing and gives the real places their own place within it.
Does the puzzle route pass the memorial?
Yes. It follows Datterich Fountain and precedes the theatre among the listed stops.
Should remembrance be treated as a game task?
Approach the real memorial separately from the game activity.
How many people share a team phone?
Up to four players use one phone.
Is an app needed for the walk?
Yes, Secrets of Darmstadt uses the free Loquiz app.
