I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where will you see the fountain on the route?
Secrets of Darmstadt takes you past Hessisches Landesarchiv, then the fountain, the war memorial and Staatstheater Darmstadt. The sequence brings different kinds of places into the same walk. Take a considerate, quiet moment at the memorial before returning to the activity and continuing onwards with your group.
At the fountain, let the stop become more than a name on the phone. Look at the place together and give your companions a chance to notice something before reading the next instruction. The walk provides a connection between the sights; your attention and conversation help make those sights part of a shared experience.

What kind of game accompanies the walk?
Secrets of Darmstadt combines puzzles, photo tasks and stories in a self-guided city activity. Choose it when your group enjoys changing the way it participates rather than following only one kind of challenge. One person might help explain a puzzle while another has an idea for a photograph.
You play with up to four people on one phone using the free Loquiz app. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for the game. Keep the discussion open to the whole group, including anyone who is not reading from the screen. Changing who reads or suggests an answer can help the activity stay shared throughout the walk.
How does the detective alternative compare?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Darmstadt offers a separate investigation starting at Friedensplatz beside Hessisches Landesmuseum. Its route also includes Orangerie and Rosenhöhe. Choose that activity if your companions prefer a detective case; select the puzzle walk for its varied tasks and the route that passes the fountain.
Both activities cost €19.95 per team of up to four players on one phone. Each uses the free Loquiz app, takes 1.5 to 2 hours and can be started whenever you like, every day. Your purchase stays valid for twelve months. You can agree on the game style first and choose a suitable date together afterwards.
