I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which game offers a city story or detective work?

Secrets of Frankfurt follows clues as you help Rahel Hirsch rediscover why she returned to her hometown. The route passes Kunstverein, a historic square with coloured houses and Historisches Museum Frankfurt. You play in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed, in teams of up to four.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Frankfurt takes a detective case from Paulsplatz across Römerberg to the old town lanes. It uses the free Loquiz app and also allows four players per team. Pick the story your friends would enjoy discussing, then assign a phone to each team. Both activities are self-guided, leaving your group to follow the walk at its own pace.

How does the five-player outdoor escape game differ?

The Frankfurt Syndicate (outdoor escape game) sends teams after Magnus and the stolen formulas past Paulsplatz, Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus and Mainkai. Up to five players share a team phone, using the free Loquiz app. You follow the chase through the streets without a guide leading the activity.

That player limit may work well when you arrange a bachelor or bachelorette party into smaller groups. Let everyone contribute ideas while the team makes decisions around its phone. The outdoor story gives friends a common challenge to start the celebration. Keep the competition friendly, and allow enough room in the day's plans for walking and following the chosen game at your own pace.

What do we need to know before booking teams?

Each Frankfurt game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Budget for one booking per team, allowing at most four players for the city story or detective case, or five for the outdoor escape game. Every team plays using one phone, so a larger party needs several devices.

You can start whenever you want, every day, and the booking stays valid for 12 months. First decide which game suits your friends, then organise the teams and prepare the required phone setup. Agree a time for everyone to be ready to begin. The self-guided format lets your group place the walk at the start of its own celebration plans.

Which option runs without an app?

Secrets of Frankfurt runs in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed.

Who features in the city exploration story?

In Secrets of Frankfurt, you help Rahel Hirsch rediscover why she returned to her hometown.

Can a bachelorette party play?

Yes. These games suit bachelor or bachelorette groups looking for a friendly challenge in small teams.

How long does a booking remain valid?

The booking is valid for 12 months, and you can start whenever you want on any day.
