I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which story-based game includes the colourful square?
Secrets of Frankfurt takes you past Kunstverein, the square, the Historical Museum and Eiserner Steg, the bridge with a skyline view. In the game you help Rahel Hirsch rediscover why she returned to her hometown. That story supplies a fictional thread while the real route offers different city places to notice.
At the square, let your attention move away from the screen for a moment. Different companions may notice different parts of the setting, giving you something to discuss beyond the next clue. You can then return to the story together, keeping the real place present alongside the activity your group has chosen to share.

How does the detective option differ?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Frankfurt takes you past the Historical Museum, Stoltze-Museum, Römerberg and the New Old Town. Choose this separate activity if your group prefers a detective case to the other game’s character-led story. The real city provides the settings while the investigation gives your walk a common purpose.
This game uses the free Loquiz app on one phone for up to four players. The story game instead runs in your phone browser without an app. Prepare for the option you select, and make room for everyone to offer an idea before choosing an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands so the activity remains common to all companions.
What are the shared arrangements for playing?
Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players sharing one phone. Both offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare their stories and phone setups with your companions, then choose a suitable date for the activity you want to share.
Talk about whether the game will be the main outing or part of a longer city day. Extra time at individual places belongs alongside the game duration. With that plan clear, everyone can arrive ready for the same activity, following clues or investigating together while giving the square and the other real route settings attention between game decisions.
Does the story route pass the square?
Yes, it appears between Kunstverein and the Historical Museum.
Which activity needs no app?
Secrets of Frankfurt runs in your phone browser.
How do we play the detective case?
It uses the free Loquiz app on one shared phone.
Can we choose when to begin?
Yes, both games offer flexible daily starts within twelve months of purchase.
