I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What can an exploration or detective team follow?
Secrets of Gouda takes an exploration walk from Markt past Sint-Janskerk, De Goudse Waag and Museum Gouda. You solve puzzles as you walk, with friends sharing a phone and contributing ideas to the activity. It suits a group that wants to explore together as part of the day's opening challenge.
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Gouda follows a case from Markt past Sint-Janskerk and De Goudse Waag. Choose it when your friends would prefer discussing a mystery during the walk. Both games use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team. Decide on your preferred story before assigning friends to teams, and prepare a phone for each.

Where does the five-player outdoor escape game go?
The Gouda Syndicate (outdoor escape game) takes you after Magnus and the stolen formulas past Wijdstraat, Sint-Janskerk and Vroesenhuis. It allows at most five players per team, using one phone with the free Loquiz app. You guide yourselves through the streets, following the outdoor story at your team's pace.
For a bachelor or bachelorette group, the five-player limit gives you another way to arrange friends into smaller teams. Everyone can join the discussion while one person handles the phone, making the activity shared within the group. Keep the rivalry relaxed as the story provides a common challenge to begin your day. Agree the teams beforehand so you can gather ready to follow the walk.
What are the cost and start arrangements?
Each Gouda game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Calculate how many teams your guests need within the four-player exploration and detective limit, or five for the outdoor escape option. Every team plays on one phone, so larger parties need several devices and bookings within those limits.
You may start whenever you want, every day, and the booking is valid for 12 months. Choose the story before dividing friends into teams so the arrangements fit. Prepare the phones, agree a start and leave enough room for the walking activity in your celebration plans. These games are self-guided, leaving your group to organise its own beginning and follow the activity together.
Can we play as a bachelorette group?
Yes. These games suit bachelor or bachelorette groups playing in small teams with friendly competition.
Which option allows five players?
The Gouda Syndicate (outdoor escape game) allows at most five players per team on one phone.
Does the exploration game use an app?
Secrets of Gouda uses the free Loquiz app, as do the other two games.
Is one booking enough for any number of friends?
Each team booking has a player limit. Larger parties need several teams, each costing €19.95 per team.
