I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which routes suit explorers or detective fans?

Secrets of Maastricht takes an exploration walk from Vrijthof past Saint Servatius, Stokstraat and Helpoort, with puzzles to solve along the way. Your friends follow the self-guided activity on a shared phone, bringing observations and ideas to each task. It suits a group that wants exploring to shape the opening of the day.

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Maastricht follows a case from City Hall to Vrijthof and down to Helpoort. Choose it when your friends would prefer discussing a mystery during their walk. Both games use the free Loquiz app and allow at most four players per team. Arrange a device for every team joining the activity.

What outdoor story can five friends play together?

The Maastricht Syndicate (outdoor escape game) follows Magnus and the stolen formulas past Vrijthof, Basiliek van Sint Servaas and Platielstraat. It uses the free Loquiz app on one phone, with a maximum of five players per team. You guide yourselves through the streets and follow the outdoor story at your own pace.

For a bachelor or bachelorette group, this player limit offers another way to divide friends into small teams. Let everyone contribute while one person handles the screen. Keep rivalry relaxed as the chase gives your celebration a shared challenge. Choose this story when an outdoor escape activity sounds right for the beginning of your day, and prepare each team's phone before meeting.

How do we organise our bookings and beginning?

Each Maastricht game costs €19.95 per team and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Budget for the teams your guest list needs, allowing four players for exploration or detective play, or five for the outdoor escape game. Every team follows its chosen activity on one phone, so larger parties need several devices and bookings.

You can start whenever you want, every day, and the booking is valid for 12 months. Select your preferred story first and arrange friends into teams that fit its limit. Prepare the phones, agree a start together and leave time for the walk in your celebration plans. No guide sets the departure for you in these self-guided games.

Can a hen group choose these walks?

Yes. A hen or bachelorette group can play in small teams with friendly competition.

Which exploration route begins at Vrijthof?

Secrets of Maastricht follows an exploration route from Vrijthof past Saint Servatius, Stokstraat and Helpoort.

What app should our teams use?

Each game uses the free Loquiz app on your own phone.

Is the price charged per guest?

The price is €19.95 per team within the game's player limit, using one phone.
