I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Why include the bridge in your city game?

Sint Servaasbrug is a bridge over the Meuse in Maastricht and is passed by Secrets and The Syndicate. Looking along the river gives your walk a different perspective from the streets and squares elsewhere on the routes. Take a moment to notice the bridge together with the water and surrounding city before continuing your activity. A game gives the group a shared purpose between these sightseeing moments. You can choose discovery puzzles or pursue stolen formulas, depending on what everyone enjoys. Discuss the themes first, then let the bridge become one part of a wider outing with more places to explore together.

Which routes connect the bridge with Maastricht?

Secrets of Maastricht passes Sint Servaasbrug on an exploration game from Vrijthof with puzzles. You see the government buildings by the Meuse before Augustijnenkerk, then the bridge and Stokstraat. The Maastricht Syndicate (outdoor escape game) also passes the bridge, following Magnus and stolen formulas from Vrijthof towards it. Along its route you encounter Vrijthof before the Basilica of Saint Servatius, then Platielstraat and Sint Servaasbrug. For a detective alternative, Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Maastricht follows a case from the city hall towards Vrijthof and Helpoort. Its route includes Bonnefanten museum before Vrijthof, then Sint Pieter Fort and the city hall, giving your group another story to compare.

How do you arrange the activity with your team?

The Maastricht games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team. You use one phone with the free Loquiz app. Secrets and Sherlock Holmes allow at most 4 players per team; The Syndicate allows at most 5.
