I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the statue fit into Secrets?

Secrets of Hasselt includes Virga Jessebasiliek, National Jenever Museum, Het Borrelmanneke Statue and St. Quentin’s Cathedral in that walking sequence. The fictional quest follows a search for a missing speculaas recipe, giving your group a shared objective between real places. Notice the statue during the route and keep the game’s invented events separate from the history of the locations you encounter. Your companions can compare possible meanings of a clue before selecting an answer together. Share the current prompt so each player can contribute an observation or interpretation, keeping the discovery collaborative. The phone connects the activity while the surroundings and your conversations remain part of the outing as you continue the walk on foot.

What investigation can you choose instead?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hasselt follows a case from the historic town hall to St Quintinus Cathedral and Grote Markt. Its route also includes Modemuseum Hasselt and Virga-Jessebasiliek after Cathedral St. Quintinus. Choose this fictional investigation if your companions prefer discussing possible explanations to following the missing-recipe quest in Secrets. Agree on which story interests everyone before selecting a game, then focus on one shared adventure together. Real locations provide changing surroundings while the case supplies clues and decisions to consider. Each player can suggest an answer or question a first interpretation, helping the team decide how to respond. Plan separate interior visits outside the walking activity and give them their own time.

How do time, price and the shared phone compare?

Both adventures cost €19.95 per team, take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. Secrets runs in your own phone browser without an app; Sherlock Holmes uses the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starts and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable occasion for the outing. Leave space for the route and its tasks without rushing into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so every companion understands the current challenge. Comparing different ideas can make the next answer a shared discussion, keeping all players involved throughout the selected adventure as you explore the city together on foot.
