I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What search takes you to the cathedral?
Secrets of Hasselt asks you to help Jenever de Bakker recover a secret speculaas recipe in a fictional city mission. The listed route takes in Virga Jessebasiliek, National Jenever Museum, Het Borrelmanneke Statue and St. Quentin's Cathedral. Follow these places with your companions while the missing recipe gives your outing a purpose. The game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and works in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed. Choose it for a shared search that connects to the cathedral. An independent cathedral visit can be arranged separately around your time playing, so everyone knows the activity itself is a walking game.

How does the detective story differ?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hasselt describes a fictional case from the historic town hall to St Quintinus Cathedral and Grote Markt. Those three places frame the walking route for the investigation. You follow the case on foot through the free Loquiz app on your own phone, allowing 1.5 to 2 hours. Choose this option if discussing theories would be the part your companions enjoy most. The recipe search offers a different story and phone setup, even though both connect to the cathedral. Decide on the experience your group wants before starting, then follow its route and share the investigation with everyone as you go.
What should you agree on before setting out?
A Hasselt game costs €19.95 per team, with at most 4 players sharing one phone. You can start whenever you want, every day, within 12 months of validity. Choose the story together and check whether you need the browser or Loquiz for that game. Make room for the full playing time in your day, especially if you have separate sightseeing plans as well. Friends can exchange suggestions, a couple can solve side by side, and colleagues can take on a common task outdoors. Share the instructions so the whole team can contribute. You follow a self-guided activity without meeting a guide at a fixed departure.
