I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which discovery route includes the fountain?

Secrets of Verviers includes Sainte-Julienne Church, Grand Théâtre de Verviers, Verviers City Hall and David Fountain in that walking order. Puzzles and photo tasks give your group shared activities while real locations provide changing surroundings. Notice the fountain during the route before returning to the next challenge on your phone. Your companions can compare observations and possible interpretations before choosing an answer together. Sharing the information keeps the discovery open to everyone, with each player able to contribute an idea. The route brings variety into your outing, rather than becoming only a connection between instructions followed by the person carrying the screen throughout the walk through the city with the rest of the group.

What detective route can you choose instead?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Verviers includes Place du Marché, Hôtel de Ville de Verviers, Église Saint-Remacle and Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Céramique in that walking sequence. The fictional case gives your companions an investigation to discuss while real locations provide surroundings for the walk. Choose it if detective reasoning interests the group more than the varied discovery tasks in Secrets. Agree on which format everyone wants before selecting a game, then focus on one shared adventure together. Each player can offer a possible explanation or question a first answer, helping the team choose how to respond. Keep separately arranged interior visits outside the walking activity and give them their own time in your plans.

How do price, time and shared phone setup compare?

Both adventures cost €19.95 per team, take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and allow up to four players sharing one phone. Secrets runs in your own phone browser without an app; Sherlock Holmes uses the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starting times and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable occasion for the outing. Leave room for the route and its tasks without rushing into another activity. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen so all companions understand the current challenge. Comparing different ideas can make the next answer a shared discussion, keeping all players involved throughout the selected adventure as you continue exploring the city together on foot.
