I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which detective route begins at the square?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Verviers leads from Place du Marché towards Perron de Verviers. Along its route, you encounter Hôtel de Ville de Verviers, Église Saint-Remacle and Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Céramique after the square. The investigation supplies a fictional case to discuss while the real locations give your walk changing surroundings. Notice the square before continuing with the next clue and arrange any interior visits separately from the game. Sharing each prompt with the whole team lets everyone consider its meaning, compare possible answers and help choose how you respond before carrying on with the investigation through the city together.

What does the discovery adventure include?
Secrets of Verviers takes you past Sainte-Julienne Church, Grand Théâtre de Verviers, Verviers City Hall and David Fountain in that walking order. Puzzles and photo tasks turn the route into a discovery activity for your group. Choose it if your companions prefer varied tasks to following a detective plot, with the city itself giving you places to encounter between challenges. Agree on the format before you set off so everyone knows what kind of outing you have selected. You can then share observations and ideas throughout the walk, letting each player contribute to the activity rather than leaving the decisions to the person carrying the phone.
How do you play and what does it cost?
Both adventures cost €19.95 per team and take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Up to four players share one phone. Secrets runs in your own phone browser without an app, while Sherlock Holmes uses the free Loquiz app. Flexible daily starts and 12 months of validity let you choose a suitable time for the game. Give it enough room in your plans for both walking and discussing the tasks. During play, read prompts aloud or show the screen whenever useful, keeping everyone informed about the current challenge. Comparing interpretations makes the next answer a shared decision, with your companions taking part in the story as well as the walk.
