I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

What does this location mean for your activity?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Ypres passes Hill 60 Car Park. The name identifies a location within your outing, but it does not establish parking availability, a charge or a reserved space. Make any independent travel arrangements separately from the game. The activity itself is a fictional detective investigation on foot through Ypres. You can notice where the route brings you without making the place part of an invented historical explanation. For the case, read the next instruction aloud and let everyone offer an idea. Keeping the information shared makes the game an activity for the group rather than something only the person holding the phone understands.

What setting does the Ypres game describe?

The game description leads from Cloth Hall to St. Martin's Cathedral and the Menin Gate. With the location featured here, those places give the investigation a real city setting. Religious and commemorative places have meanings separate from the fictional murder story, so treat them respectfully. Follow the game for actual progress and arrange any independent interior or commemorative visit outside the activity. Between tasks, ask whether the group agrees on its current explanation and give a quieter player time to respond. Walking can be part of the conversation, rather than just a journey to the next screen where one person chooses an answer.

What should your team allow for playing?

The Ypres mystery takes 1.5 to 2 hours and uses the free Loquiz app. It costs €19.95 per team for at most 4 players sharing one phone. Friends, colleagues or a couple can follow a single case by reading instructions aloud and taking turns proposing the first answer. The shared device should support your discussion, not replace it with one player's private reasoning. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game is valid for 12 months. Leave enough time for the walking investigation, with independent travel arrangements and sightseeing visits outside the game's own activity and duration.
