I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How can St. Andreas fit into your sightseeing?

St. Andreas is a church in Dusseldorf that you can look at from outside during your exploration. Start with the whole building before focusing on individual parts of its exterior. A brief pause gives the place attention beyond its name on a route. You can compare your teammates’ impressions without adding a separate quiz. Afterwards, return to your chosen game and continue the walk. That leaves room for both the visible city and the shared task or story your team has decided to follow.

Which exploration game passes the church?

Secrets of Dusseldorf starts on Grabbeplatz and leads past St. Andreas with puzzles to solve. Along its route you see St. Andreas, the Basilica of St. Lambertus and Radschlägerbrunnen. Choose this option if your group wants exploration with a shared purpose. Agree on the phone you will share before heading out, but let the ideas come from different people. Asking someone else to explain a possible answer before you enter it can give the whole group a role as you continue the walk together.

Which chase story also passes St. Andreas?

The Dusseldorf Syndicate (outdoor escape game) passes St. Andreas while chasing Magnus and the stolen formulas from Grabbeplatz to Burgplatz and Schlossturm. On its route you see Mutter-Ey-Straße, St. Andreas and Mühlenstraße. It is an outdoor escape game through the streets. Another choice is Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Dusseldorf, running from Grabbeplatz through the Altstadt to Ratinger Tor. You see Goethe-Museum and Johanneskirche along that route. Choose it for the detective case; for St. Andreas, Secrets and The Syndicate are the named passing routes.

What are the practical game conditions?

The listed Dusseldorf games cost €19.95 per team and take 1.5 to 2 hours. Secrets and Sherlock allow up to four players sharing one phone, while The Syndicate allows up to five. All three use the free Loquiz app. Prepare your shared team phone before setting out. You can start whenever you want, every day, and your purchase is valid for twelve months.
