Wir (Mein Mann, unsere 9-jährige Tochter und ich) haben heute ganz spontan das Spiel "Moordmysterie Düsseldorf" gebucht und gespielt. Die Buchung verlief schnell und reibungslos. Es hat super viel Spaß gemacht! Die Story, die Rätsel, das Konzept, die Route, die Gestaltung der App... richtig gut!!! Das Spiel würde ich vor allem Familien mit Kindern empfehlen. Für Erwachsene waren die Rätsel (meiner Meinung nach) zu einfach. Aber trotzdem wegen der schönen Route durch Düsseldorf, der Story, den lustigen Anweisungen zwischendurch eine schöne Aktion, die man zusammen machen kann.

I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

The dark side of Hoorn's history
Hoorn grew rich as a VOC town, and that wealth has a shadow. The statue of Jan Pieterszoon Coen on the Roode Steen remembers a governor-general whose violence on the Banda Islands in 1621 is now widely discussed. The Roode Steen square itself was for centuries the place where justice was done in public.
The Bossuhuizen recall the Battle of the Zuiderzee in 1573, when the Spanish admiral Bossu was defeated and brought to Hoorn as a prisoner. And sailors from this harbour named Cape Horn after their town. We do not make up ghost stories: in Hoorn the real history is dark enough for a Halloween walk.

Which games can you play in Hoorn on a Halloween evening?
Secrets of Hoorn takes you from the Roode Steen past the Coen statue and the Westfries Museum towards the old VOC area, with stories about the harbour on the way. In the Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hoorn you solve a detective case that leads you from the Westfriesmuseum past the Museum of the 20th Century to the Hoofdtoren and the Bossuhuizen, perfect when the streets are dark.
The Hoorn Syndicate (outdoor escape game) is an outdoor alternative to an escape room. You track Magnus and the stolen formulas from the Grote Kerk past the Statencollege and the Statenpoort. Every game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and is played in the free Loquiz app.

Halloween is a fairly new custom in the Netherlands, mostly parties and children in costume. A city game is a quiet, spooky alternative you can play on any evening.
Do I need an app?
Yes, the games in Hoorn run in the free Loquiz app on your own phone. You download it once and start the game with your ticket.
How many players can join?
Up to 4 players per team on one phone, or 2 to 5 for The Hoorn Syndicate. With more people you simply play with several teams.
