I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Where does the museum fit into the puzzle walk?

Secrets of Hoorn takes you past Roode Steen and the Jan Pieterszoon Coen statue to the museum and then the Church of Saints Cyriacus and Francis. The walk combines puzzles, photo tasks and stories, giving your group varied ways to contribute. The museum becomes part of a broader exploration rather than the only destination for the outing.

No museum admission or exhibition visit is specified for the activity. If you want to go inside separately, plan that time independently alongside the walking game. At the stop itself, let the real place have attention before reading onward. Clear expectations help companions understand the shared day and where extra visiting time belongs in your plans.

How does the detective option use the same landmark?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hoorn includes the museum, the Museum of the 20th Century, Roode Steen and Hoofdtoren among its stops. Choose it for a continuing investigation, or the exploration walk for varied puzzle and photo tasks. The real places give either activity different settings while your group explores on foot.

Both games use the free Loquiz app on one phone for up to four players. Let everyone hear each instruction before settling on an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands during the walk, so the device holder does not have to carry every decision alone. This keeps the activity open to all companions throughout the outing.

What should your team arrange before playing?

Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four people. Both offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare their activity styles with your companions, then choose a suitable date and prepare the free Loquiz app on your shared phone.

Discuss whether the game will be the main outing or part of a longer city day. Extra time at individual places belongs alongside the game duration. With a clear common plan, everyone can arrive ready for the selected activity, enjoying the tasks or case while giving the museum and the other real route settings their own attention between game decisions.

Do both games include the museum?

Yes, it is listed in both routes.

Does the game include an exhibition ticket?

No admission or exhibition visit is specified.

Can three players share one game?

Yes, up to four people use one phone per team.

Is there a fixed departure?

No, both activities offer flexible daily starts.
