I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which detective route includes the museum?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hoorn takes you past Westfriesmuseum, then this museum, Roode Steen and Hoofdtoren. These places give the investigation different settings as your group explores on foot. The case provides a thread between them, making the outing more than a sequence of unrelated stops.
No museum admission or exhibition visit is specified for the game. If you want a separate museum visit, plan its time independently of the walking activity. A clear outline helps companions with different interests know what the day includes. You can notice the museum on the route while leaving any additional visit its own part of your shared plans.

How do your companions share the investigation?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Hoorn is self-guided through the free Loquiz app on one phone. Up to four people can form a team and compare their ideas about the case. The device provides the activity, while the group supplies the conversation and decisions during the walk.
Let everyone hear the task before settling on an answer. Someone without the phone may have a different explanation worth considering, so keep the discussion open. Reading and explaining can change hands as you continue. This helps the investigation remain a common activity rather than something one player manages while the others simply follow through the city.
What puzzle alternative could you choose?
Secrets of Hoorn offers a separate walk with puzzles, photo tasks and stories. It includes Roode Steen, the Jan Pieterszoon Coen statue and Westfries Museum among its stops. Choose it for varied tasks, or choose the detective game for a continuing investigation and the route that includes the museum described here.
Both activities take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players sharing one phone. Both use the free Loquiz app, offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Agree the activity style with your companions before choosing a day. Extra visiting time sits alongside the game duration.
