I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the exploration route reach the square?
Secrets of Basel takes you from Marktplatz to the square, then past the University of Basel entrance and Heuberg Street. These places give your walk different settings while puzzles and photo tasks supply something for your companions to share. The square is one stop in a broader outing rather than its only destination.
Take a moment to notice the real setting before reading onward. Companions may see different things, and a short exchange can make the stop feel shared. You can then return to the activity together, keeping the city present alongside the tasks your team has chosen to work through as the route connects different places on foot.

How do you play together without installing an app?
Secrets of Basel runs in your phone browser without an app, for a team of up to four players on one device. The self-guided activity combines puzzles and photo tasks, allowing different contributions from your companions. Someone can explain an answer while another helps make a photograph as the walk develops.
Let everyone hear each instruction before the team settles on a response. A player without the phone may have another approach worth explaining. Reading and discussing can change hands during the outing, so the device holder need not manage every decision alone. This helps the activity remain common to the whole group rather than something only one person follows throughout the walk.
Which separate game offers a detective case?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Basel takes you past Martinskirche, the city hall, Basel Minster and Pfalz. Choose it for a continuing investigation, or the exploration activity for varied tasks and the route that includes the square. The detective game uses the free Loquiz app rather than browser play.
Both activities take 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team of up to four players sharing one phone. Both offer flexible daily starts and twelve months of validity after purchase. Compare their routes, activity styles and phone setups with your companions before choosing a suitable day. Extra visiting time belongs alongside the game duration in your shared plan.
