I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which search takes you past the town hall?
Secrets of Zurich asks you to help Huldrych Zwingli recover the Disputation Scroll in a fictional city mission. The listed route takes in Ehgraben sewer tunnel at Schifflände, Grossmünster Church, Cabaret Voltaire and Zürich Rathaus. These points give the search a walk to follow while the missing scroll gives your group something to solve together. The game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and runs in your phone’s browser, with no app needed. Plan any independent town hall visit separately around the activity. Choose this experience for the story-led search and keep everyone involved by sharing what the phone asks before agreeing on an answer.

What does the detective route include?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Zurich lists Rathaus, Rathausbrücke, Grossmünster and St. Peter Church (Kirche St. Peter) among its route points. Your team investigates a fictional murder case on foot at its own pace, using the free Loquiz app on your phone. The playing time is 1.5 to 2 hours. Pick this story if your companions enjoy comparing theories as they walk. The scroll search has a different mission and phone setup, even though both connect to the town hall. Decide on the experience your group wants to share, then let that game’s route guide the outing rather than blending the two activities together.
How do you make the game a group outing?
A Zurich game costs €19.95 per team for at most 4 players sharing one phone. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Find a day that suits your companions and leave enough room for the full playing time. Friends, couples, families or colleagues can use the team format for time outside with a shared task. Check whether your selection uses the browser or the Loquiz app before starting. Read the instructions together and listen to different suggestions so everyone can contribute. Your group follows the experience independently without meeting a guide for a scheduled city tour.
Is the town hall in both games?
Secrets of Zurich lists Zürich Rathaus, and the detective route includes Rathaus among its points.
Is the scroll search fictional?
Yes. Recovering the Disputation Scroll with Huldrych Zwingli is the storyline of Secrets of Zurich.
Which option needs no app?
Secrets of Zurich runs in the browser on your own phone, with no app needed.
How long do the games take?
Both games take 1.5 to 2 hours, at €19.95 per team for at most 4 players on one phone.
