I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Which story involves the missing instrument?

Secrets of Ede asks you to help street musician Milo Vermeer find his stolen instrument in a fictional exploration game. Alongside passing the church, its route lists Ede Adventure Start, Raadhuisplein and Grotestraat Passage Entrance. Those named points help your group follow the walk while the missing instrument gives you a common mission. The game runs in your own phone’s browser with no app needed and takes 1.5 to 2 hours. Choose this option for a search through Ede’s streets and squares. Let everyone contribute an idea as the story progresses, keeping the activity shared rather than leaving the thinking to the person with the phone.

What happens on the detective route?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Ede is a fictional investigation through the old centre, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Its listed stops include Gemeentehuis Ede, Raadhuisplein, Oude Kerk and Torenstraat. You work through the case on foot at your own pace, following the game with your own companions. This option uses the free Loquiz app on your phone. Choose it if a detective story is the kind of activity your group wants to discuss. The route and mission differ from the instrument search, even though both connect to the church. Follow the game you select and arrange any independent church visit separately.

What is useful to know before starting?

An Ede game costs €19.95 per team, with at most 4 players sharing one phone. You can start whenever you want, every day, within 12 months of validity. Choose the game with your group first and check whether it uses the browser or the Loquiz app. Friends can enjoy solving together, a couple can share the search, and colleagues can spend time outside with a joint task.
