I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

What can you enjoy on Raadhuisplein during the walk?
Raadhuisplein is a square in Ede that you can see during both featured walking games. It gives your group a broader view of the city than looking at a single object or street corner. Pause before returning to the phone, and compare what different companions notice around them. This turns sightseeing into a conversation everyone can share, even if one person has been doing most of the reading. The game supplies the continuing activity, while you decide how much time to spend at the places you reach together. Plan separate visits independently of the playing time.

Which Ede story would you choose to follow?
Secrets of Ede passes Raadhuisplein while you help street musician Milo Vermeer find his stolen instrument. Along the route you see the square, the Grotestraat Passage Entrance and the central point on Grotestraat. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Ede also passes the square, on a detective walk through the old centre towards Maandereind. Its route includes the town hall and Oude Kerk. Choose the instrument recovery mission if that fictional goal interests your companions, or the detective case if you want an investigation to discuss between the places you see as you explore Ede on foot.
How do the practical arrangements compare?
Both Ede games last 1.5 to 2 hours and cost €19.95 per team, with at most 4 players using one phone. Secrets of Ede works in the browser on your own phone without an app. The detective option uses the free Loquiz app. Decide on the story and shared device before starting, then let everyone join the discussion as you walk. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Add time separately for other Ede plans so the self-guided activity remains a flexible part of your outing.
