I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

Where does the theatre appear on the exploration route?
Secrets of Emmen starts on Marktplein and takes you past Grote of Pancratiuskerk, the theatre and Veen, the Peat Garden. These places give the walk different settings while the tasks provide something for your group to share. The theatre is one stop in that wider outing rather than a performance visit included with the game.
Look at the building before concentrating on the next instruction. No theatre admission or performance ticket is specified for the activity. If you want to add separate theatre plans, consider their time independently of the walking game. This keeps the outing clear for everyone, especially companions who have different interests in the day.

What does the exploration game involve?
Secrets of Emmen combines puzzles and photo tasks on a self-guided city walk. The variety lets different companions contribute in different ways, from proposing an answer to helping make a photograph. You have a common activity without needing everyone to prefer exactly the same type of challenge.
Up to four players share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Let the whole group hear the instruction before deciding on an answer. Reading and explaining can change hands during the outing, so the person holding the device does not have to carry every decision. This helps the activity remain shared while you explore the city settings together.
Which option offers a detective case instead?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Emmen is a separate investigation that starts at Grote of Pancratiuskerk and passes Rensenpark. Choose it if your group wants a continuing case, or select the exploration game for varied tasks and the route that includes the theatre. Both are self-guided activities that give your walk a shared purpose.
Each takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team of up to four players on one phone. Both use the free Loquiz app, offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Agree your preferred format with your companions, then find a suitable date to explore together.
