I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How does the exploration route include the garden?
Secrets of Emmen begins on Marktplein and includes Grote of Pancratiuskerk, Atlas Theater and the garden among its route stops. These places give your walk changing settings while puzzles and photo tasks provide something for your companions to share. The garden becomes part of a broader city outing rather than a separate visit included with the game.
Take a moment to look at the real place before reading onward. Different companions may notice different things, and a short exchange can make the stop feel shared. You can then return to the activity together, keeping the surroundings present alongside the tasks your team has chosen to work through during the walk.

What kinds of contributions can players make?
Secrets of Emmen combines puzzles and photo tasks in a self-guided walking activity. The variety lets companions contribute in different ways, from explaining an answer to helping make a photograph. You have a common purpose without needing every player to enjoy exactly the same part of the outing most.
Up to four people share one phone with the free Loquiz app. Let everyone hear each task before agreeing on an answer, and invite different players to explain their ideas. Reading can change hands as you go. This helps the activity stay common to the whole group rather than leaving the device holder to manage the entire walk alone.
What does the separate detective walk offer?
Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Emmen starts at Grote of Pancratiuskerk and passes Rensenpark. Choose it for a continuing investigation, or select the exploration walk for varied tasks and the route that includes the garden. Both give your companions something to share while exploring on foot through the city.
Each game takes 1.5 to 2 hours and costs €19.95 per team of up to four players on one phone. Both use the free Loquiz app, offer flexible daily starts and remain valid for twelve months after purchase. Compare the activity styles with your group before choosing a suitable date.
