I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the church fit into a city game?

The Grote of Maria Magdalenakerk is a church in Goes that you can see during both featured walking games. Its building gives you an architectural point to notice among the other city places on the routes. Pause to look at the exterior before going back to the phone, and compare what different companions observe. This makes the sightseeing a shared conversation too, rather than leaving everything to whoever reads the game. Any separate interior visit should be organised independently, with additional time around the walk if you want to include it in your outing.

Which walk suits the activity you want to share?

Secrets of Goes passes the church during a self-guided walk with puzzles and photo tasks. Along the route you see the church, the Catholic Saint Maria Magdalena Church and Het Postkantoor. Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Goes passes the landmark too, on an investigation from the Grote Markt towards Manhuistuin. Its route also includes Theater De Mythe. Choose exploration tasks if your companions enjoy variety, or follow the murder case if a continuing investigation sounds more appealing. Both connect the church with other city places while giving your group something to work on together between sightseeing pauses.

How do you organise the phone and timing?

Both Goes games use the free Loquiz app, cost €19.95 per team and last 1.5 to 2 hours. At most 4 players share one phone per team, so decide which device you will use before starting. Let everyone join the discussion, regardless of who handles the screen. Friends, couples or colleagues can choose their own pace because the activity is self-guided. You can start whenever you want, every day, with validity for 12 months. Add time separately for other Goes visits so the game can be enjoyed as one part of your plans rather than the entire day's timetable.
