I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

Which detective game passes the cathedral?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Brussels passes the cathedral during a fictional investigation through the centre. Its described route also runs from Grand Place past Manneken Pis to Mont des Arts. These places give the case a walk while the story gives your companions something to discuss together. You play through the free Loquiz app on your own phone and allow 1.5 to 2 hours. Choose it for the detective activity and its connection to the cathedral. Any independent church visit can be planned separately around playing. Read each task with the group and consider different explanations before deciding how to continue, so everyone contributes during the walk.

What story can you choose instead?

Secrets of Brussels follows a fictional mission with Agent X.O. to recover a waffle-patterned outfit. Its listed route takes in Palace of Karel van Lotharingen, Queen Elisabeth statue, Brussels Parliament and Manneken Pis. You play in your own phone’s browser, with no app needed, and allow 1.5 to 2 hours. Pick it when your companions would enjoy a missing object search more than a murder investigation. It has a separate route from the detective walk passing the cathedral. Agree on the experience before beginning, then follow the selected game’s tasks together rather than trying to blend the two activities into one outing through Brussels.

What does one team pay and when can it start?

Each Brussels game costs €19.95 per team, with at most 4 players using one phone. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game stays valid for 12 months. Find a suitable day with your companions and leave room for the full activity alongside any independent cathedral plans. Check the phone setup for your selection before starting. A couple can solve together, friends can compare suggestions, and colleagues can share a task outside. Keep the device’s instructions part of the conversation so everyone can contribute an idea. Your own group follows the self-guided experience without meeting a guide for a scheduled departure.
