I had a fantastic experience with CityGame! The concept is creative, engaging, and a great way to explore a city in a completely new way. The games are well-designed, combining puzzles, storytelling, and adventure so you’re constantly discovering something interesting around every corner. What I especially love is how CityGame turns a normal walk through the city into an interactive experience. It’s perfect for friends, families, or team outings, and it makes sightseeing much more exciting than the usual tours. Everything was easy to use, the challenges were fun and clever, and it really encouraged us to look closer at the city and its hidden details. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a unique and memorable way to explore!

This is an interesting way to conduct a self-guided Amsterdam city tour. It used the GPS on your phone to guide you to stops on a route. There are mini quizzes once you arrive at the stops on the path. The quizzes draw your attention to features in front of you or to a brief history of the place. In many cases, we visited a spot that would not have been obvious as a regular passer by. The tour as a whole was interesting to us as newcomers, but I would have liked more information on many locations we visited - a few links outside of the app for each place would have been helpful. Beyond that, the interface was a bit clunky and sometimes awkward to navigate. We definitely don't regret trying this out and feel like we got our money's worth on the experience.

How we check reviews

These reviews were left by players on Google and other review sites and are copied from there as they are, with their source.

How does the detective game include the museum?

Sherlock Holmes murder mystery in Brussels lists Musée des Instruments de Musique, Musée Magritte Museum, Parc de Bruxelles and Musée de la Ville de Bruxelles among its stops. You follow the fictional murder investigation on foot at your own pace, with a playing time of 1.5 to 2 hours. The free Loquiz app carries the case on your own phone. Share what it asks with your companions and compare ideas as the story progresses. The museum is a point in this walking activity. Any independent museum visit can be planned separately around the game, giving both your sightseeing plans and the shared investigation their own time.

Which story can you choose instead?

Secrets of Brussels asks you to join Agent X.O. in a fictional mission to recover a waffle-patterned outfit. Its listed route takes in Palace of Karel van Lotharingen, Queen Elisabeth statue, Brussels Parliament and Manneken Pis. Those places give the search a walking route through the city. You play in your own phone’s browser with no app needed and allow 1.5 to 2 hours. Choose this option if your companions prefer a missing object mission to a detective investigation. It has a different story and route from the game that includes the museum, so select the activity you would most enjoy following together.

How can you organise a shared city game?

A Brussels game costs €19.95 per team for at most 4 players using one phone. You can start whenever you want, every day, and the game remains valid for 12 months. Agree on a suitable day and allow time for the full experience alongside any separate sightseeing plans. Friends, couples, families or colleagues can use the small team format to share an activity outside. Check whether your chosen game uses the browser or the Loquiz app before beginning. Keep the phone’s tasks part of the conversation and listen to different suggestions. Your group follows the self-guided walk rather than meeting a guide at a scheduled departure.
